Engagement Party At Thornton

A happy band of relatives and friends gathered at the residence of Mr and Mrs H. F. McDonald, Thornton, on Saturday evening for a party given by Mrs McDonald to celebrate the engagement of Mr Tom Mexted to Miss Helen Woolfield. Guests numbered 55, and the evening was spent in games and dancing. Full justice was done to a delightful supper prepared by Mrs McDonald. The. toast to the guests of honour was in the hands of Mr McDonald, and Mr Mexted suitably replied thanking everyone on behalf of his fiancee and himself for coming along and making the evening so enjoyable. Mrs McDonald then asked the .guests to drink the health of Mr and Mrs G. E. Jones, who were present at the evening, which coincided with their silver wedding anniversary. Mrs Jones was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
