Thornton Institute’s November Meeting

There was a good attendance at the November meeting’of the Thornton Women’s Institute, Mrs Ducker presiding. After the aspirations were read, members stood in silence . as a token of respect for two members bereaved. As it was International Day, .members were asked to bring anything <of interest from ovedseas. A good -collection was displayed. It was re- . solved that the Thornton branch - donate £5 to the"headquarters build- . ing fund. Mrs Lennon gave a comprehen- . sive report on the recent Council : meeting at Edgecumbe. The roll call, A country I should like to visit, was Well responded to. Mrs K. Stewart, 'of Whakatane, then gave a much appreciated talk on ' Holland and the characteristics of its people. Mrs Stewart was thank- - ed and presented with a posy. Competition winners were:— Dressed doll: Mrs Dudson 1, Mrs ! Ducker 2. Posy: Mrs Ducker 1, Mrs Jones 2. Flower: Mrs Fisher 1, Mrs Robb “2.
