Beach Display Draws, Big Crowd

A big proportion of the residents of Ohope, most of their children and a fair-sized contingent from town gathered round the huge bonfire at Ohope. A Progress League team of .workers led by Mr S. Petersen had been responsible for the organisation of the entertainment, which went with a bang from start to finish. The organisers had laid in a stock of crackers which were issued to the children. In addition to that most families had brought their own, which, all helped to add to the quite impressive display, including a pro 7 portion of fancy fireworks and a fire that for size and brightness would have been hard to better. There were also two or three private bonfires on the beach.
