Huge Bonfire At Edgecumbe

Edgebumbe children and parents were treated to'a very fine display of fireworks on Guy Fawkes night. The display was held on the farm of Mr D. Radcliffe, and the whole population of Edgecumbe had turned out to witness the event, each family bringing their contribution of fireworks and old tyres. With the help of the Edgecumbe Boy Scouts and Girl Guides Mr Radcliffe had built a colossal bonfire, a genuine outsizod one, topped with a very realistic Guy made by Eileen Hawkins. Another very well made Guy had been made by the Tunnicliffe mill men and was placed at the base of the bonfire. The night was ideal. Not even a breath of wind stirred, and the children fully enjoyed themselves, judging by the shrieks of laughter and general uproar they made. Parents also enjoyed the whole proceedings. t
