Pigeon Poaching Is Expensive Sport
Native pigeons can be expensive. A pair cost Tohi Tohi Ariki £9 12s in fines inflicted by Mr E. L. Walton. S.M., in the Magistrate's Court at Whakatane yesterday. Two charges were brought against Ariki, who did not appear, by Mr S. A. McNamara, Conservator of Game, and supported in evidence by Internal Affairs Department Ranger K. E. For taking absolutely protected game, Ariki was fined £5, costs 17s, and for having the pigeons in his possession £3, costs 15s.
