Central Heating By Natural Steam

When a bore was being drilled for hot water in the Wairoa Valley, about three-quarters of a mile from the Wairakei Hotel, steam was struck, giving a pressure’of 1851 b; to the square inch. After four hours the pressure fell to and remained at 1001 b. This is sufficient to supply central heating for the hotel, for which it will be used. During the drilling a hot water supply was also tapped. It has a temperature of 185 deg. fahrenheit. This ‘ will also be used at the hotel. The only expense necesary will ‘be the piping. In the same locality a satisfactory cold water supply has been secured.
