Wrecked Gaol

Gene Tierney wrecked a movie gaol. A scene for “That Wonderful Urge” called for her to grab the bars and shake them. She did—with such vehemence that they bent like wire. “I don’t think,” said Gene, 1 “that 20th Century-Fox uses the best quality materials in its gaols.” Production was delayed for half an hour \yhile workers repaired the set. When it was intact again, Director Robert Sinclair had a suggestion to make. “Look, ‘Muscle Gertie’,” he said, “try to control yourself. You’re supposed to be playing a lady of refinement!”
