New Car For Plunket Service: County Council’s Support

Plans are afoot by the Plunket Society in the Whakatane and Opotiki districts for the purchase of a car for a second nurse who has had to be appointed on account of increased work. It is estimated the car will cost in the vicinity of £SOO to £530, and the suggestion is that the. raising of this sum should be apportioned between the Opotiki and Whakatane districts (Whakatane £350, Opotiki £150). When a request for support came before the Whakatane County Council’s monthly meeting yesterday, Councillors agreed to co-operate with local Plunket committees in their districts to assist in the drive to raise the money. Moreover, the Council decided to make a donation of 20 guineas.
