£37,557,464 WAS WORTH OF N.Z. WOOL IN 1947-48
The total value of wool produced in New Zealand in the 1947-48 season, was £37,557,464, its average price per pound was 36.08 penee, and the average, value per bale was £36.6275. These figures were given by Mr G. A. Duncan, Chairman of the NewZealand Wool Disposal Commission, to the recent annual meeting of the New Zealand Wool Board with its Electoral Committee. Following is a summary of wool statistics for the 1947-48 season:— Auction sales (bales) 829,444. Private sales in N.Z. 12,851. Growers’ exports 37,201. Freezing Company’s production 141,640. Fellmongers’ production 6,652. Carry-over as at 30.6.48 20,665. Less carry-over as at 30.6.47 28,064. Production (bales) 1,025,389. Average weight per bale lb 337,072 Total weight lb 345,630,204.
