NOVICES DO WELL AT ROD AND GUN CLUB SHOOT AT PAROA
A most successful shoot was held last week-end on the Whakatane County Rod and Gup Club’s ground, Paroa, when several of the clubg trophies were competed for by a re-"' presentative gathering of shooters from this district, Rotorua and Te Puke. A pleasing feature of the day’s shooting was the success of novice shooters in carrying off the main events on the programme, Mr A. T. Haultain winning the Novice Cup and C. A. Timbs Memorial Pigeon, ’while Mr V. Timbs was the winner of the Mrs Matchitt Cup. Details:— Eye-opener (5 birds, 32 entries): G. Pulis, J. Plamus, J. Hassett (Whakatane) and J. McLeod (Te Puke) all shot 5 and divided the stake. Sweepstake (10 birds, 22 entries): G. Pulis. W. Semmens (Whakatane) and A. Wansbone (Te Puke) all shot 9 and divided the stake. J. D. Rivett Novice’ Rose Bowl (Club Championship): (10 birds, 14 entries): A. T. Haultain, 9 birds, 1; L. R. Spring and V. Timbs, 7 birds, equal, 2. Mrs Matchitt Cup (10 birds, 33 entries): W. Hume, J. McLeod, G. Pulis, E. Le Lievre, V. Timbs, A. T. Haultain, D. Boon, W. Mayo, and W. Kenyon all shot 9 birds and the shoot-off resulted: V. Timbs 1, G. Pulis 2, W. Kenyon 3.
