Strand-McAlister Street Link-Up To Proceed With Borough’s Blessing
After some discussion on the 'possibilities of future development in the same area, the Wha- ' katane Borough' Council decided on Monday night to inform the Harbour Board that it was fully r in accord with the Board’s policy of taking land for the Strand-McAlister street link-up and; reclamation works in that locality.. .' The Board is to be given to understand, however, that road construction must be at its'own cost and in. accordance with Borough specifi-'catiohs.-Not-will the Borough object to similar proposals to extend the Strand to link with King Street. -In -discussion, Councillors agreed that, with adequate drainage, the reclaimed land would be a great asset and would allow the Borough new scope for expansion in a logical direction,> f as-well as giving extra main road access to the business area.
