Awakeri Women’s Division Social Evening

The Awakeri Women’s Division, of : Federated Farmers held a very enjoyable social evening in the Awakeri Hall last Tuesday. • The president, Mrs Haultain, extended a hearty welcome to everyone presept. A sketch entitled “Anxious Moments” received loud applause, the players being Mrs Roberts and Mrs McKenzie. A most interesting and instructive talk on his travels in Japan was given by Mr Dreghorn, who also displayed some of his very, fine paintings of scenes in Japan. The evening was interpersed with dancing, music being played by Mrs C. Wilson, Miss Colleen Fabish and Mr Anderson. A competition, modelling a set qf dentures in plas- ~ ticine, was won by Mrs Campbell and Mr J. Barr. The monthly competitions were won as follows: Flower: Mrs F. Matchitt 1, Mrs Roberts* 2, Mrs McKenzie 3. Fruit: Mrs F. Matchitt 1, Mrs Roberts 2, Mrs Fabish 3. Vegetable: Mrs Fabish 1, Mrs Roberts 2, Mrs McKenzie 3. A very tasty supper was served by members of the committee.
