MARX—TEESDALE

A wedding of wide interest to the district was solemnised in All Saints Church, Edgecumbe, when Olive Mary, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Teesdale, Edgecumbe, was' married to Owen Everett, second son of Mr and Mrs A. O. Marx. The church was decorated for the occasion in the rainbow shades.of the bridal party. The Rev. J. C. J. Wilson officiated and Mr Jack Harris and Mr Barry Marx acted as ushers assisted by Capt. Rooney., Mrs D. Spence was organist for the occasion. The bride, who entered the church on the arm, of her father, made a charming picture in her long sleeved cream cloque gown cut simply with heart-shaped neck, outlined with small pearls. The fitting bodice came to a peak at the front and was buttoned at the back from the neck to waist, from which feli a long train. Her full length embroidered veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of cream roses and Shasta daisies. Her triple string of pearls was a gift from the bridegroom. Picture gowns of green and. lilac georgette respectively made with fully frilled skirts and frilled sequin bodices were worn by the chief bridesmaid, Heather Carson, a friend of the bride, and Doreen Marx, sister of the groom. They were matching halos of net and car-

ried bouquets to match their dresses. Valerie Teesdale, small sister-of the bride, and Maureen Teesdale, a cousin, were frocked alike in primrose georgette fashioned in the same style as the bridesmaid’s and they carried dainty baskets of flowers to tone with their dresses. The bride groom was attended by 'his brother, Mr A. S. Marx, as best man and Mr A. Teesdale Jun. as groomsman. • The reception in the Edgecumbe. Hall was attended by some 160 guests and the floral decorations , were carried out in rainbow shades. The three-tiered wedding cake was the pride of the tables. Mrs Teesdale received her guests wearing a smart deep apricot dress, with brown accessories and a shoulder spray of Shasta daisies matching her frock. She-was assisted by Mrs Marx, who chose brown accessories to go with her hydraenga pink frock and matching spray of‘ pink 11 carnations and roses. Mr Shaw, of Putaruru, carried out the duties of toastmaster. During the reception Mrs Shaw sang “Because.” When the newly-married couple left for their honeymoon the bride was wearing a teal, wool suit, em- , broidered on the shoulder, with black accessories. She also wore a shoulder spray of orchids, a gift from the bridegroom’s uncle, Mr K. Marx. ' ’ • • « The bride and groom received some very valuable and useful presents. . •
