BETHELHEIM-HODGSON
A pretty wedding of widespread interest was solemnised on Thursday at the Waimana Church, when Joyce Phyllis, daughter of Mrs B. Hodgson, Waimana, and the late Mr Baden Hodgson, was married to Arthur, son of Mr and Mrs Bethelheim, of Tauranga. The Rev. K. Liggett, Opotiki,' officiated. The church decorations were arum lilies, jonquils and snowdrops, and a white wedding bell hung above the bridal couple. Mr A. Bell played the wedding music. The bride entered the church with her uncle, Mr H. Bell, and wore a dainty bridal gown of white Georgette over satin. The bodice was long and fitting. Guipan lace and pin tucks trimmed the bodice, and a square neckline was finished, with tulle frilling. Sleeves were full Bishop. The full long flowing skirt ended in a rounded train, which was edged with tulle frilling. The silk net embroidered veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white Shasta daisies, jonquils, snowdrops and asparagus fern. v The bride was attended by Miss Nola Abbott, Opotiki, and Miss June Stevens as bridesmaids, frocked alike in cyclamen, floral painted stiffened Marquisette, the bodices of which were fitting and featured a sweetheart neckline. .Short puff sleeves were worn with net mittens. The long circular skirts were quite full and shoulder length cyclamen net veils were held to the head with topknots of anemones in shades of cyclamen and' pink. They carried bouquets of daphne, cyclamen, cactus and blue salvia and fern.
The bridegroom was attended byMr Noel Gillanders as best man, and Mr Raymond Bell as groomsman. /. While the register was being signed, Miss Currie and Mrs Potter sang a duet, “O, Perfect Love.” As the bride felt the church, little i Diana Menzies, presented her with a white horseshoe. The 300 guests were received by Mrs Hodgson and Mr and Mrs Bethelheim at a reception which was held in the Waimana Hall. Mrs Hodgson wore a black wool suite, black hat relieved with blue and a spray of violets and Iris. Mrs Bethelheim chose a smart grey suit, and navy accessories and a spray of autumn coloured flowers. Mrs F. Bell, grandmother of the bride, wore a fur. coat over a black wool frock, black hat relieved with white. The hall had been decorated with greenery, camelias and spring flowers. The bridal table and other tables were prettily decorated with pink stock, camelias, daphne and violets, and the three-tiered bridal cake, held pride of place. The usual toast list was honoured, the Rev Liggett being toastmaster, and Mr A. Bell ) playing for the toasts. During the reception, Mr Halburt gave a violin solo and Misses Cini and Monica Boynton sang “I Love You Truly” and “Oh, Promise Me” and were accompanied by Mr and Mrs Halburt, with violin and piano.. The newly-weds' received many gifts and cheques. ' • The bride chose a sky blue Swiss wool “going-away” frock, relieved with white. Her coat and accessories were of a wine shade. The happy couple left later for a motoring holiday touring the North Island.
