Motor Cycle Reliability Trial On Saturday
Three local riders won the times and reliability test rim by the Whakatane Motor Cycle Club on Saturday. J. Marsh, on a Triumph Speed Twin 350 cc, came first, A. Marsh XA.J.S. 275 cc) second, and A. Teesdale (Triumph Speed Twin 350 cc) third. The course was approximately 90 miles around, and went from Whakatane to Matata, through Hannigan’s Track and up to Murupara, out to Manawahe and Rendal’s road to Whittle’s Bach, back tq McEiver’s Road and Awakaponga and Whakatane. The trial started at ,9.30 a.m. and finished at 3.40 p.m. This was a gruelling test for 12 competitors, the going being over some of the roughest roads in the district. The best outside rider was Pyra from Opotihi.
