Whakatane Club Rugby Following is the Senior and Junior draw for Saturday 24: Poroporo v P.W.D. at Whakatane. Wairaka v Waimana at Waimana. Paroa v Taneatua at Taneatua. United a bye. Long Awaited Exchange Post and Telegraph mechanicians are expected to arrive in Whakatane on August 2 to begin the installation of the long awaited telephone exchange extension. The greater part of the new equipment for the extension is now on the job. The date for the completion of the new system is at present- indefinite. Philatelic Display The Bay of Plenty Philatelic Society has on. display in a grocer’s shop in the Strand a series of stamps in the various stages of striking from the first artist’s impression to the final photogravure preparatory to the making of the plate for the printing of the stamps. The display shows a number of quite common stamps and the original face values and how they have been changed. Numerous finished articles are also shown.
