Mr and Mrs G. Murray, of Tauranga, arrived in Whakatane on Sunday for a short visit. Sergeant M. Farrell arrived back at Whakatane on Sunday after >a month’s holiday at Auckland. Miss Joan Miller arrived in Whakatane on Sunday for a short stay to attend her cousin’s, Miss M. Miller’s wedding. Miss J. Matsen has returned to Whakatane after spending her annual holidays in both Hamilton and Auckland. > Mr H. B. Lawry, Technical Officer of the New Zealand Herd Recording Department, was in Whakatane yesterday. Captain Carey, Harbourmaster, left Whakatane on Monday for Auckland, where he will spend his annual leave. He is expected to return in three weeks. Mr Les Brown, manager of the Whakatane branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., left Whakatane on Sunday for Wellington on business. He is expected to return next Monday. Mr Miller, Education Board Architect, arrived at Whakatane yesterday to consult with the local school committee as a result of its forceful representations to Auckland concerning school accommodation problems. The committee meets tonight. Mr W. Hadwen, of Gisborne, will be at Whakatane on Friday and Saturday to judge the poultry classes at the Bay of Plenty Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Club’s winter show. Mr G. Drayson, late of Whangarei and now living at Whakatane, will judge the pigeons and cage birds.
