VOLUNTEERS RE-ERECT AUXILIARY SCHOOL
A solid effort by volunteers from the Whakatane School Committee and a number of completed the re-erection of the old Fenton’s Mill School in the, grounds of the Whakatane Primary School last week-end. The whole building was brought in from its old site at Te Haehunga on King’s Birthday weekend, by volunteer labour and transport. - . A gang of 16 energetic citizens started on the job early on Saturday intending to get the blocks laid for the final erection on the following week-end. So much energy was available however that the whole job, with the exception of the barge boards and a few trimmings, was finished in the two days under the expert guiding of Mr J. Carr. Though unimpressive as it stands at present, the workers on the job are confident that, with the same labour force as was available last week-end and with a gallon or so of paint, the new block will be ready for use by the end of next week.
