THIRTEEN-MILE TRIP IN A LL-DAY TRAMP
Members of the Whakatane Tramping Club who gathered at Mr A. Carling’s homestead to complete* the course set for their Sunday’s trip had a very successful day. Setting off from their starting point they headed back inland for about three miles, then began to climb. On reaching the Taneatua Trig, it was decided they should have lunch. • After everyone had eaten and was fully rested the party set off on the remainder of the trip, coming around the Wainui road onto the farthest end of Ohope. After walking the length of Ohope, the party climbed over into the Bay where they had afternoon tea and a rest. They then began the final stage of the journey up the hill at Otarawairere, coming out at the old Gorge Road. The party completed a round trip of about 13 miles.
