Grant To Ohope Domain Monday night’s meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council, recognising the value of Ohope as an attraction to this district, decided to grant £2O to the Ohope Domain Board. Real Good Fishin’ Astounding catches of fish have been made off the shore of Ohope over the last few days and the fish are continuing to run in unabated numbers. The main type caught has been schnapper, of which catches from twenty to 'forty have been made. That’s no fish story either! A Bit Too Keen? Strong criticism of the methods of an enthusiastic bill-sticker who plastered notices on telegraph poles and other places in certain parts of the Borough was voiced by Crs R. S. Buttimore, E. R. Dillicar and K. Needham at Monday night’s Borough Council meeting. The Council decided that, unless the offending practice ceased forthwith, the man’s license to use a certain section be cancelled. Hospital Entrance Road Concerning the hospital entrance road, regarding the condition of which there has been some criticism lately, it was pointed out to the Borough Council on Monday night by the foreman-engineer, Mr S. W. Henderson, that the Council was not duty bound to do anything in the hospital entrance. It belonged to the Board. Cr H. G. Warren, agreed. He said few realised the extra work flood damage restoration had involved for the Borough staff.
