SCOUT HALL PROJECT TO BE CARRIED ON

There are not many people in Whakatane who are aware that nearly twelve months ago the Whakatane scouting and guiding community purchased a section in McGarvey Road for the erection of a permanent hall and headquarters for their troops. In the first place it was proposed to construct the building in log cabin style, but on expert advice that logs would not be very satisfactory a change was made and it was decided to build in concrete blocks. Here again the work was held up on account. of the cement embargo. At a recent meeting of the special works committee it was decided to make an. energetic drive for funds and to draw up a plan of campaign for furthering the whole project. This will be presented at the combined meeting next month.
