DAMAGES AWARDED IN CAR ACCIDENT CLAIM

H. M./Bell (Mr Buddie) successfully claimed £ll 10s from T. H. Ewen (Mr B. S. Barry) for damage done to a car in a collision at the intersection of Stewart Street and King Street in April of last year. Court costs, £3, and solicitor’s fee, £3 13s, were also awarded to the plaintiff. Evidence was that Ewen’s car was coming out of Stewart Street into King Street, when Bell’s car, driven by Mrs Bell, approached from its right and ran into it. The Magistrate said he thought the cause of the accident was Ewen’s failure to give way soon enough. Evidence showed he was actually on the intersection, with the forepart of his car protruding into it before he stopped.
