Edgecumbe Women’s Institute Meeting

There' was a good attendance at the April meeting of the Edgecumbe Women’s Institute.

Mrs Woollett gave a report on the recent Federation meeting. Mrs Fergusson congratulated members taking part in the Eisteddfod and especially Mrs Watson for her excellent work. Mrs Armstrong, guest speaker, gave a very' interesting talk: on the start and growth of the Institute movement.

Miss Walton played two piano solos and Mrs Watson recited the poem, “Night,” which she had composed and successfully entered in the Eisteddfod. The gift for Corso appeal for April was a Chinese child’s' padded tunic beautifully made by Mrs Roberts.

It was pleasing to see the good number of entries for the various competitions which resulted: — Best flower: Mrs Mexted 1, Mrs Woollett 2, Mrs Wilson 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Teasdale 1, Mrs Ewen- 2, Mrs Sim 3.

Gingerbread: Mrs Teasdale 1, Mrs Martin 2, Mrs Bell 3. Darned sock: Mrs Barnes 1, Mrs Blair 2, Mrs Woollett 3. Jar of flowers: Mrs Bell 1, Mrs Wilson 2, Mrs Quayle 3.
