Anzac Services In Outlying Districts
. Anzac Day was commemorated at Taneatua on Sunday with a cbmbined service at the hall,' conducted by Rev. J. Nummy, who also delivered the address. Mr A. F. McGougan was chairman and music was provided by' the Whakatane Boys’ Band. The service was well attended as also was the parade, representative of the 'R.S.A., Girl Guides, Brownies and Scouts, which preceded it. In view of the fact that the Churches had foregone their regular services, a collection was taken up. and divided amongst the Anglican and Presbyterian Churches and the Band. Each received £3 4s. At Waimana, the commemoration took the form' of an evening service, for which the hall was packed. Rev. Nummy conducted the service and delivered the address. Music was provided by the Whakatane Boys’ Band, and a feature of the service was the huge cross on which members of the congregation placed poppies in impressive tribute to the fallen.
