Mr A. J.. Murdoch, M.P., North Ward member, of the New Zealand Dairy Board, announced his retirement at the ward conference here on Wednesday. He has held office for. 14 years, and the conference minuted its appreciation of the way in which he had supported the . interests of the industry during that time.
Messrs A. O. Stewart, Native rate collector, and A. Carling, County inspector, are to be;copgfgtulpted by the'whakatane Cphrity -'Council on the -work ' they have achieved during the financial year just passed. Commenting on the annual reports on Tuesday, the chairman, Mr J. L. Burnett, said the Council was fortunate to have such efficient officers, and the Council recorded its apreciation of their work.
