Mrs D. S. Sumner, of Awakeri, is at present ip Rotorua on a visit of some weeks’ duration.
Mr J. B. McKinney, Registrar of the Bay of Plenty Justices Association, is in Whakatane. He will be here a few days before moving on to his Other districts.
Mr J. F. McDougall, lecturer to Adult Education Centres, has been in Whakatane area lecturing local groups on varioiis educational subjects.
Sergeant E. D. Fraser, of Wellington, is expected to arrive here tonight to take charge of the Whakatane Police Station in place of Sergeant A. B. Collinge, : who returned to Auckland last week. .■
Miss A. J. North, secretary of the Whakatane Branch of the Crippled Children’s Society, returned on Saturday after a visit to Auckland, where she attended a conference with Dr. Earl Carlson, American authority on cerebral palsy cases.
Right Rev. Monsignor Lehman, Superior and Prefect Apostolic of the Cook Islands Mission, will be raised to the episcopate in a ceremony of consecration at St. Patrick’s Cathedral,"" Auckland, on April 18.
The Bishop-elect returned to Auckland recently by Pan-American Airways plane, after a visit, to Rome and his native land of Holland to make a report on his Mission both to the Vatican and to his own Sup- ( erior General in Belgium. Mon-* signor Lelnpan received word 'in Honolulu ‘by*’ Cable from the Apostolic Delegate to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, that he had been 'appointed by the Pope as Vicar Apostolic of the Cook Islands Mission, and Titular Bishop of Sertei, Mauritania.
