Miss N. Wilson, of Whakatane, won the women’s 33|- yards breaststroke event at the Massey College swimming sports recently. Miss Wilson is a daughter of Mr and Mrs E. W. Wilson, of Ohope, and is studying horticulture at Massey College.

Dr. W. M. Hamilton, D.Sc., who is in charge of the agricultural and biological research activities of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, will be the main speaker at the Massey Agricultural College graduation ceremony on April 23. Dr. Hamilton is an exstudent of the College. Capping Week, commencing on April 19, is being held much earlier this year, which is the 21st year of the College’s existence.

Mr W. A. McGillivray, M.Sc., A.N.Z.1.C., lecturer in biochemistry at Massey Agricultural College, has been granted two years’ leave of absence to study for his Ph.D. degree in New Zealand. Mr McGillivray, who will continue his research work on vitamins in animal nutrition, under Dr. C. R. Barnicoat, has been granted one of the first six New- Zealand University Fellowships for study in the Dominion. The New Zealand Ph.D. degree, based largely on that at Cambridge, has only recently been re-introduced Mr R. W. Cawley, M.Sc., a graduate of Auckland University College, will temporarily occupy Mr McGillivray’s position as lecturer.
