Waimana Women's Institute Meeting: Intended Visit By Dominion President

After Mrs Stansbury read the aspirations, Mrs Looney, president, read an interesting letter from Mrs Armstrong, Federation President, it stating that the Dominion President, Mrs Barnicoat, of Wellinton, will be present at the annual Federation meeting in April. Three new members were welcomed, Mesdames Jones, Potter, Lex McDonald.

Letters were read by Mrs Wylde and the secretary from Institutes in England, thanking all for the useful parcels received. Members were asked to bring a cake of soap to the next meeting for further parcels. Mrs Looney at this stage of the meeting, presented Mrs W. Stevenson, retiring secretary, with a Long Service Badge in appreciation of her work for the Institute. An interesting demonstration on smocking was given by Mrs R. Henderson.

The committe elected were: President, Mrs R. Looney; secretary, Mrs R. White; committee, Mesdames M. W. King, Wylde, Stevenson, Hewitt, J. Rust, C. N. White, John Addison, J. Boynton, A. Macdonald, Miss A. Cranswick. Mrs Hewitt was nominated to stand for election to the Federation Executive Committee in April. Most points won during the year for the competitions, were as follows: Single flower: Mrs Mrs H. Bell 2. Double flower: Mrs H. Bell 1, Mrs M. W. King and Mrs J. Boynton equal 2, Mrs Stevenson 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs F. Bell 2, Mrs C. N. White 3. General competitions: Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs F. Bell 2, Mrs I. Savage 3. The days competitions were:— Best vegetable: Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs Stevenson 2, Mrs Wylde 3. Jar of tomatoes: Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs F. Bell 2, Mrs Wylde 3. Three paper cakes: Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs I. Savage 2, Mrs H. Whiteman 3. Single flower: Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs H. Bell 2, Mrs J. Boynton 3. Double flower: Mrs H. Bell 1, Mrs P. Clark 2, Mrs J. Boynton 3. The roll call was: Subscriptions, and a sales table for Federation funds did brisk business.
