ROTARY CLUB ADOPTS NEW CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS
The success of the experiment in changing the meetings of the Whakatane Rotary Club from mid-day to 5.30 p.m. was exemplified by the 87 per cent attendance last Tuesday evening. President Harry Warren presided, and the main business of the evening was the adoption of the club’s constitution and by-laws, which were presented on behalf of the Directors by Rotarian .Len Buddie. As in most clubs, the constitution was patterned on that laid down by Rotary International, though the local regulations were framed to suit conditions peculiar to Whakatane. The Club’s boundaries will extend in future over the whole county area. Sergeant-at-Arms Les Brown again found a number of victims from whom he extracted cheerful donations for the Ejunshine-box. The Club is now in a position to extend its membership, the procedure for electing new Rotorians being now framed, and it is anticipated that a number of ' prominent citizens will shortly join its ranks.
