Young Peoples’ Institute’s First Monthly Meeting

At the first monthly meeting of the newly formed Whakatane Young Peoples’ Institute, held last Tuesday evening, in the Whakatane W. 1.. room Lovelock. Street, Mrs J. Patterson presided over a good attendance. Mrs Caverhill, voluntary organiser for the Bay of Plenty Federation of W.l.’s, addressed the meeting and gave a very interesting talk on the foundation and aims of the Institute movement. During the social hour, members took part in a wall competition and showed interest in an exhibition of arts and crafts staged by the Whakatane W.I. It is hoped that next meeting Mrs Peck, of Otakiri, will demonstrate floral art. A tasty supper was served by committee members.
