Thornton W.I. Meeting Well Attended

The Thornton Women’s Institute meeting last week was -well attended after a recess of three months. Two new members were enrolled. A group travel tour and the Eisteddfod were discussed. A competition to aid the general funds was won by A. Dudson. New officers elected were: Mrs Ducker, president, and Mesdames D. Branch, T. Branch, Checkley, Gardner, Robb, McDonald, Sheat, Smith, Lennon, Walker, committee. Mrs Robb, retiring president, was presented with a bouquet, and on behalf of members was thanked for her efficient and untiring efforts during her period iof office!. Competition results:— Jelly: Mrs Ducker 1. Flour bag article: Mrs Robb JL, Mrs J. Branch 2. Posy: Mrs Ducker 1, Mrs J. Branch 2. Flower: Mrs D. Branch 1, Mrs Learning 2. Vegetable: Mrs Law 1, Mrs Gardner 2.
