Winter Show Abandoned: No Emergency Lighting Facilities Available
The Winter Show Committee which met last Wednesday was compelled through lack of emergency lighting facilities to abandon the winter show in June. The only auxiliary plant in the district that the committee knew of was on loan to the Whakatane District Hospital and members were of the opinion that the hospital requirements were too important for them even to think of asking for assistance from that quarter.
In lieu of the winter show it is proposed to combine with the A. and P. Society and the Hunt Club and organise a gymkhana in April. A meeting of the A .and P. Show Committee will be held soon and if the proposal is accepted there will be a meeting of all concerned to set up the necessary committees.
