Ohope Forms New Branch Of Women’s Institute: Very Keen Group Organised

Furthering the expansion policy of the Women’s Institute, a meeting of interested women was held recently at the Captain’s Cabin, Ohope. Mesdames Caverhill and Withy, organisers for the Institute, addressed the meeting' and it was resolved to form the Ohope branch. A strong provisional committe was then elected headed by Mrs Kerr as president and Mrs Wainwright as secretary. Since then the executive have visited the Whakatane branch and consolidated their proposed programme for the coming year.

Mrs Kerr presided over the second meeting at the Captain’s Cabin yesterday afternoon when the programme was confirmed and both members and intending members can be assured of an interesting and instructive coming 12 months. The Institute has always been popular and useful, and it can confidentally be expected the new Ohope branch will prove as useful and as strong as the older branches. Intending members of the Ohope branch are asked to contact either the office bearers mentioned above, or call at the Captain’s Cabin for further information.
