Mr G. Heasley, of Putaruru, is at Ohope on holiday. Mrs M. McLean formerly of Whakatane, now of Auckland, is spending a few days in Whakatane. Mr D. Morpeth, of Whakatane, left on a fishing trip to Mayor Island in the week-end. Misses Nora Watson and Maureen Dines, of Whakatane, left for Ardmore Training College Auckland, yesterday.

Mrs; E. L. Yorke, of Meadowbank Road, Remuera, accompanied by her daughter, is paying a holiday visit to Ohope. Mr Arthur Head who has been attending a Fire Brigade Conference at Wanganui, is continuing his holiday in the Hawke’s Bay district. Mr Griffith Davies, B.Sc. and A.M.I.C.E. of Roath, Cardiff, Wales, has been appointed engineer to the Hauraki Catchment Board and has cabled his acceptance of the position. Mr Davies at present holds the position of area production engineer to the Ministry of Fuel and Power, South Wales, Great Britain.
