Death Of Centenarian

The death occurred at Hamilton of Mr George Ross, aged 100 years. Born in Kaiapoi, Mr Ross was the son of the first customs officer at Christchurch, his parents having arrived in Canterbury from Britain in the early 1830’s. Mr Ross farmed in Canterbury and Otago, and he became well known for his prowess in ploughing matches. He left Nelsqn for the North Island in 1912.
