Fijian Cricketers To Flay At Rotorua

Arrangements are now well in hand for the cricket match Bay of Plenty versus the touring Fijian team, to be played at Rotorua on April 1, the Rotorua Cricket Association has stated. The Bay of Plenty Association has applied for the use of the Kuirau Reserve grounds on that day. Club secretaries have been asked to forward to the Rotorua Association nominations of eligible players, who are available for this game. The secretary requires these by tomorrow.

Champion Pairs Tourney Started At Whakatane Bowling Green

Whakatane bowlers started their Championship Pairs Bowling tournament at the greens on Sunday, 22 pairs competing. Those still in the tournament are: Loane, Smoljan, Littlejohn, Henderson and Luxton. (Two Lifers): Berg, Mclsaacs, White Dixon, Good, Dainton, Oswald, Drube, Howat, Sloane, Anderson and Hayward (One Lifers). Details of preliminary rounds follow:

Loane and McCarthy d. Berg and Pearson; Oswald and Spong d. Mclsaacs and Chamberlain; Drube and Murphy d. Stuart and Merito; Smoljan and Compton d. Grant and Bellp Littlejohn and Harrison d. Whiteand Cockerell; Howat and Howat d. Harris and Gerring; Henderson and McKenzie d. Dixon and Sims; Sloane and Creeke d. McLeod and Hollis; Anderson and Head d. Good and King; Luxton and Wilson d. Dainton and ■ Campbell; Hayward and Burgess d. Coates and Bell. In the ordinary draw games 13 teams played and Harris and McKenzie’s teams were the finalists in number one section, Harris’s team defeating McKenzie’s. Harris’s team then played Green’s team, the winners of section two. Harris’s team was again the winner.
