NEW PRESBYTERIAN MINISTER ARRIVING EARLY IN APRIL

Rev. R. T. Dodds, of South Dunedin, has been called to Whakatane to replace Rev. H. M. Bell as Minister of the Presbyterian Church here. The induction ceremony will take place at Knox Church on April 8.

Mr Dodds was born at Whare Flat, Otago. ; He later attended classes at King Edward Technical College and turned to farm work. Deciding to enter the ministry, he became a student at Otago University and passed through the Theological Hall at Knox College. He saw service in both wars, as a rifleman in. 1918, and for 3£ years as a chaplain from 1940 to 1943. He was ordained at Sawyer’s Bay in 1928: Since 1934 he has been minister of South Dunedin parish arid is a:widely known figure in the public life of the city. . He has a special gift of humorous speaking and seldom fails to make an audience respond to his wit. Recently he toured the Church’s mission fields in the New Hebrides. He brings to Whakatane a personality, noted for its warmth and understanding.
