Week-End Bowling On Whakatane Greens

At the Whakatane Bowling Club’s greens on Sunday a Smith Stars challenge match ended in a draw so the stars did not change hands. Other club games were played over the week-end. A small trophy tournament played on Monday was won by J. McGowan, W. Compton, F. Cockerell and C. Loane (s). The other teams in the competitions were:—

Smith Stars challenge: Stoddart, Stewart, McCarthy, Spong (s) 12 v Sims, Wilson, Tippett, Drube (s) 12; Compton, C. Head, Thomas (s) 30 v Campbell, Downs, Loane (s) 12; Gerring, McLay, Bell, Smoljan (s) 22 v Cook, McCowan, White, Caisley (s) 19; Steel, Hopgood, King, Hayward (s) 21 v Hay, -Rutherford, Thompson, Hollis 19; Butler, Dainton, Littlejohn (s) 26 v Jarrett, Smith, Coates (s) 16; Martin, Gerring, Cockerell, Harris (s) 23 v Salmon, Grant, Mclsaac (s) 21; Anstis, McKenzie, Head (s) 18 v Davis, Harison, Innes-Jones (s) 18. The Senior Championships will start on the greens, on Saturday 7, at 9 a.m. and the open tournaments at 9 a.m. Sunday.
