School Certificate Passes
All the candidates from the Whakatane District High School passed the School Certificate Examination conducted by the Education Department in November last year. The successful pupils were: Margaret E. Coates, Gaie Hamill, Pamela C. Hammond, Barbara Palmes, Noel M. Prince, Philip E. Heikell, Warren T. Kirk, Donald R. McKenzie. Considering that the passes for the whole of New Zealand average about' 50 per cent., the above result reflects very creditably upon the local school.
