“Drunk” Ordered Out Of Whakatane
Charged before Mr I. B. Hubbard, at the Whakatane Police Court, on January 27, Gaulbourne Charles Cress, alias John Charles Kildare, aged 51, hotel porter, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to the charge of being helplessly drunk in a public place on January .22. Police evidence showed that this was his second offence in six months, but that defendant had been trying to' keep out of trouble. He was convicted and ordered to pay medical expenses, one guinea, and to leave the town.
