Concerning A Shark And A Beer Bottle
This is a fish story with some unusual features. The most unusual feature is that it is true. The fisherman himself said so. Fishing from a launch off Te Kaha recently, Dr Lance Armstrong, of Hamilton, and formerly of Whakatane, caught a 601 b mako shark. That in itself was not unusual. Quite a few people catch sharks. But this one, having taken one of the lower hooks on the line, broke away and caught its tail on another hook higher up. After a fight it was dragged in tail first. Nor is that all. When it was opened up, its stomach contained a beer bottle, quite empty. Whether or not the shark had been on a bender and swallowed the bottle by mistake no-one will ever know.
