On Sunday a team of Whakatane tennis players captained by G. N. Gordon, defeated a Rangitaiki tennis team, captained by R. E. Blair, for the Watt Cup, at the Rangitaiki courts by 12 matches to 4. Details:— Women’s Singles: Mrs Mole v Mrs Bridger 8-5, 6-3; Miss Mahy v Miss J. Davis 6-1, 6-2; Miss Waetford v Miss Meikle 6-3, 6-1; Miss Carter v Miss P. Carter 6-4, 6-5. Men’s Singles: N. Moore v R. E. Blair 6-2, 6-2; W. Rutherford ,v J. Fraser 6-2, 5-6, 6-4; G. Gordon v P. Carter 6-0, 6-2; C. Wylds v J. Campbell 6-1, 5-6, 6-1. Women’s Doubles: Mrs Mole and Miss Mahy v Mrs Bridger and Miss Davis 6-3, 6-5; Misses Waetford and Carter v Miss Meikle and Miss P. Carter 6-2, 6-1. Men’s Doubles: Moore and Rutherford v Blair and Fraser 6-4, 6-3; Gordon and Wylds v Carter and Campbell 6-2, 6-2. Combined Doubles: Moore and Mrs Mole v Blair and Mrs Bridger 6-3, 6-0; Rutherford and Miss Mahy v Fraser and Miss Davis 6-5, 6-3; Gordon and Miss Waetford v Carter and Miss Meikle 6-5, 4-6, 12-10; Wylds and Miss Carter r Campbell and Miss Carter 6-2, 6-5.
