Rovers Too Good For Rangers When Two P. & T. Cricket Teams Meet

P. and T. Rovers scored an outught win over P.- and T. Rangers at the Whakatane Domain in the Clarke Shield cricket competition on Sunday. Rovers proved too good for their opponents in all departments of the game. The winners’ first innings yielded 184 for 9 wickets (Shaw 33, retired, J. B. Rivett 120, retired, Gillam taking 4 wickets for 14 runs.) Rovers contented themselves with 70 luns for 7 wickets in the second strike, A. Martin (20, retired) being top scorer. Stringer, 17, was Rangers’ only double figure scorer in the first innings, which yielded 41 runs for 8 wickets. Rivett, 3 wickets for 5 runs, and Thomas, 2 for 2, led the attack. Back at the creasses Rangers made only 53 for a full second innings, remarkable for six Seebeck made something of a stand for 26, but the bowling of Carling 3 for 5, Martin 2 for 6 and Rivett 2 for 19, proved too hot for the others.
