Whakatane Team Brings Back Francis Cup From Opotiki

A Whakatane bowling team skipped by D. Anderson was successful in winning the Francis Cup, coveted trophy in Bay of Plenty bowling circles, at Opotiki during the New Year holidays. "" ‘ The winning team comprising A. Burt, F. Cockerell, G. Oswald and D. Anderson (skip) defeated G. Peebles, G. Dawson, C. Carter and J. Black of Opotiki 18—14 in the final.

The game was keenly fought, both teams being on equal terms with only two heads to complete the match.

Two other teams skipped by C. Loane and L. Berg also took part in the tournament.
