Bay Of Plenty Cricket Representatives Lose Match With Waikato
In an elimination match for the right to challenge for the Hawke Cup which concluded at Hamilton on Saturday, the Waikato cricket representatives defeated Bay of Plenty by 339 runs. Bay’s first innings yielded 148 (I). R. Spring 76, W. J, McKenzie 17) and the second 99 (Clarke 20, Curtis 17, Sherriff 11, Barron 13 not out; Langman took three wickets for 21, Winger three for 38, Fisher two fov 14, Callaugher two for 19). Waikato in the first innings, made 228 (McMahon '42, Fisher 42 and Everett 35; McKenzie took 4 wickets for 65). Second innings, 358 (A. J. Aitken 99, N. McMahon 61, Lyon 50, J. Everest 44, Petrie 19, Fisher 61, N. Winger 15; Clarke took five wickets for 68, Sherriff two for 29, Curtis two for 19, Wyllie one for 29, Barron one for 32).
