Monthly Meeting Of League Of Mothers

At this month’s meeting of the League of Mothers Mrs Metcalfe presided over an excellent attendance, opening the meeting in the customary manner. It was decided to hold a picnic on the last Saturday in February, 1948, on the farm property of Mrs Gow of’Edgecumbe. A very interesting letter was received from the Scottish Link thanking members for a food parcel received. There was also a letter from Holland saying people there had appreciated the parcel of clothing sent to them.

As it was a social afternoon many delightful items were contributed. Mrs Breward and Mrs Schofield played a piano duet. Mrs Larmer played two violin solos ably accompanied by Mrs Schofield. A word building competition was won by Mrs Cole. Mrs Jessop sang “Silent Night” and led members in the singing of several Xmas Carols accompanied by Mrs Lysaght. It was Hospital Day and many flowers and magazines were donated. Mrs Metcalfe extended the Season’s Greetings to all.
