Ambulance Appeal
Friday’s Figures Record For District: Over £224 Collected Friday’s appeal for St John Ambulance Association brought record results, realising £224 3s sd, which is beyond the target the Association had hoped to achieve. Mr A. J. Canning, chairman of the Association told the Beacon that his executive was delighted with the response. He said not one person who had been approached had refused to give and all, in giving generously, had paid a practical compliment to the way the ambulance workers were doing their job. Apart from the cash donations here acknowledged (which totalled £64 11s) Mr Canning said the executive wanted to thank all who had given produce and other goods to be sold for the cause. Stalls, street collections and competitions had raised £159 12s sd.
