SOUTH BAY JERSEY BREEDERS
TWO-DAY FIXTURE
The South Bay of Plenty Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Annual Show and Sale of Pedigree Jersey Bulls held at the A. and P. Showgrounds, Whakatane, on September 25 and 26 was the largest fixture of its kind yet held in the Bay. There was a record entry of 240 bulls catalogued on account of 24 Whakatane district breeders and 191 were disposed of under the hammer over the two days at an average price of 28i guineas. Awards at the Show held ih conjunction with the Sale were: — First Day Yearlings: Mr S. G. Ker’s Lot 75, 1; Mr C. H. Hill’s Lot 102 A, 2; Estate G. Hill’s Lot 60, 3; Mr Neil Reid’s Lot 65, 4. Two year olds: Mr Neil Reid’s Lot 3,1; Mr S. G. Ker’s Lot 14, 2; Mr G. R. Yeoman’s Lot 81, 3. Second Day Yearlings: Mr E. H. Hill’s Lot 184, 1; Mr S. G. Ker’s Lot 167, 2; Mr E. H. Hill’s Lot 212, 3; Mr G. W. Mexted’s Lot 160, 4. Two year olds: Mr Neil Reid’s Lot 178, 1; Mr F. R. Looney’s Lot 170, 2; Mr G. W. Mexted’s Lot 159, 3-. First Day Sales Top price on the first day was 83 .guineas for Lot 27, a yearling sold on account of Messrs. Boon and Berg to Mr W. Branson, Ngongotaha, Rotorua. This yearling was the son of a Cloverfields bred sire from an H.C. dam with a C.O.R. of 7441bs fat in 365 days at 4 years.

The best price on the second day was 85 guineas for the first prize 2 year old Lot 178—sold an account of Mr Neil Reid, Taneatua, to Mr F. R. Looney, Waimana.
