SWIMMING CLUB
PREPARATIONS FOR SUMMER
MEETING SOON TO BE HELD
The Whakatane Amateur Swimming Club will be holding its annual meeting in the Caledonian Hall on Thursday night. Plans will then be prepared for the coming season. The club, severely handicapped by the lack of swimming baths in this town, had a hard time when it was first commenced. It did good work in teaching children to swim last year was allowed the use of the school baths. This factor allowed the club to further its instructional work. From a very small number the season was completed with a financial membership of over ldO. Members have journeyed afield to carnivals in neighbouring towns with some success. The club is doing a grand job and deserves the fullest support from the community to which it is rendering invaluable service. All interested in the progress of the club are asked to attend the annual meeting on Thursday.
