All matches produced some excellent golf. In the Senior contest both players completed the morning round in 79 with Wylds leading 1 up. The first three holes in the afternoon round were halved in -par figures, then Wylds won the fourth after Smith had found trouble outside the trees on the right. Trees were again Smith’s downfall at the sixth where Wylds increased his lead to 3 up. Smith having temporarily lost touch was unable to make any impression on his steady opponent.

Bridger then turned on a splendid run of par figures to square the match at the 36th after a perfect shot from behind a tree in the rough. The 37th was halved in fives and the end came at the next after Bridger had pushed his second into the rough. Both players produced rounds below their handicaps.
